Our Services
At Let’s Blossom, we will work with our clients and their support system (family, carers, educators, other health professionals) to provide a comprehensive service. This service will include a comprehensive case history, informal or formal assessment(s), observation through play and/or conversation, discussion regarding communication goals, a summary report (if requested) and therapy sessions. Therapy sessions will be aligned with the client’s goals and will be continuously reviewed and updated. Therapy sessions may also include ongoing observations across various environments to allow the speech pathologist to gain a better understand of the client’s development.
We work within the following areas of speech pathology practice:
Speech Sounds: This refers to the way we articulate sounds. A client may have difficulty producing a sound (articulation) or swapping one sound for another (phonological difficulties) which may result in difficulties being understood.
Early Communication: All children learn and develop skills at their own rate which means there is a variety in the “typical” range of communication development. If you have concerns regarding your child’s development, contact us and we will discuss their communication and any potential support you may require. Let’s Blossom uses Hanen evidence-based strategies to support late talkers and their families.
Language: Receptive language refers to understanding language such as answering questions, following directions or understanding words. Expressive language refers to using language such as creating sentences or telling stories.
Social Communication: Also referred to as pragmatics, includes communicating using verbal and non-verbal social language. Social communication difficulties may include difficulty using and/or understanding emotions, gestures or humour. Play is also an essential skill in social communication, speech and langauge development and therefore a play-based approach is essential for most of our younger clients.
